Here are the design comps for my website. I’m leaning towards number 1, but i wanted to get the second in there mainly for a different layout. color suggestions would be very helpful. I like the saturated black sort of color in layout 1, but I’m not totally sold on the blue.

without further adieu:

I prefer the first one…stronger use of white space to accent your photos.

Love it, love it, love it…. (I know Jenn said we weren’t supposed to just leave our critique at that, but hey, what can I say?)

I really like the first comp. It is very clean and simple which is good because you can really focus on the images. I like your name logo…it looks very cool. I also like the big photo on the right, very attention-grabbing.

During the critque I had a little trouble seeing parts of your image. Could you put it on a different color of something?

I like the nature of the second one. I would suggest centering the logo/nav bar over the small text links in the blue footer. I am looking for some unity between the columns, and this might do it.

Also, as I mentioned in class, having some relevant text on the page is going to be key. Why not include just one line of text below your main image in the blue area (perhaps below the numbered navigation) that simply describes your site: “Original works of photography by Blake Larson, Annapolis, MD” or something similar? This will give people a geographical area, which might be very worthwhile.
